Women’s Basketball: Raiders Make It Two Straight

The Central Community College women's basketball team won its second straight game with a 70-46 victory over Doane JV on Thursday at Raider Fieldhouse.

The Raiders held the Tigers to eight points in the opening quarter and went on to lead 29-22 at halftime. CCC also had a good showing in the third quarter by outscoring Doane, 23-10.

Day zchay lon Gardner (pictured) topped the Raiders in scoring with 21 points, while Isabel Diaz scored 13 points.

"I'm proud of the team controlling the game from the beginning," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "Our ball movement is getting better and we are buying into playing harder on defensive end."

The win gives the Raiders a 5-10 mark on the season.

CCC was scheduled to host Marshalltown Community College on Saturday. However, the game was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The Raiders will return to action on Wednesday when they welcome Northeast Community College to Raider Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
