Women’s Basketball: Spartans Defeat Raiders

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost to Southwestern Community College, 80-57, at Raider Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

The Raiders started strong by outscoring the Spartans in the first quarter and trailed by two at halftime, 30-28. However, Southwestern went on a 14-2 run in the third period and went on to build a 25-point lead.

"We just could not finish the game," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We are a young team trying to find our identity. "We just have to continue taking it one game at a time and get better."

Three CCC players scored in double figures led by Alexis Ramaekers with 15 points. Day zchay lon Gardner scored 14 points, while Monica Brooks finished with 10 points.

The loss gives the Raiders a 2-7 mark.

Up next, CCC will host Concordia JV at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night.
