Women’s Basketball: ICCC Defeats CCC

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost at Iowa Central Community College, 74-49, on Monday night in Fort Dodge.

The Tritons set the tone early with a 22-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter. ICCC continued the pace in the second period en route to a 43-16 halftime lead. The Raiders outscored the Tritons in the third quarter, 17-10, before ICCC closed out with a 21-16 edge in the final quarter to earn the 74-49 victory.

"We started off really slow in the first half, but the girls did a good job of adjusting at half and played hard until the end," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We are very young, but we saw some good things that we can improve on and get better."

Monica Brooks led the Raiders in scoring with 17 points, while Day zchay lon Gardner finished with 14 points.

The 0-1 Raiders will open the home portion of the 2018-19 season on Wednesday with a meeting against York College JV. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.
