Women’s Basketball: Vikings Edge Raiders

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost to Midland JV, 83-80, on Tuesday night at Raider Fieldhouse.

The Vikings got off to a strong start by outscoring the Raiders in the first quarter, 25-14. CCC kept pace in the second quarter, but still trailed 40-27 at halftime.

The second half was much better for the Raiders as they shot 56 percent (18-32) from the floor, up from 31 percent over the first two quarters. However, a 64 percent (14-22) performance at the free throw line throughout the game allowed the Vikings to secure the win.

"I thought after halftime, the girls did a good job playing harder and continued to battle back," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We just came up short."

Four CCC finished in double figures with Quenshae Love and Jada Warner each scoring 18 points. Payton Blanke scored 16 points, while Maddie Wolf recorded a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds.

With the loss, the Raiders are now 3-11 on the season.

CCC will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 9, with a home game against Concordia JV. Tip-off at Raider Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
