Women’s Basketball: Iowa Central Tops Central

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost to Iowa Central Community College, 71-62, on Friday night in opening round action of the Great Western Shootout.

The host Tritons set the tone early by taking advantage of CCC missing its first six shots, which led to a 10-2 run. But the Raiders recovered at led 17-16 after the first quarter. ICCC regained the lead in the second period and eventually went to the locker room with a 33-28 advantage.

The Raiders fell behind by in the third quarter and pulled to within four in the final quarter, 54-50. But the Tritons put the game away on the strength of a 12-2 run.

Maddy Wolfe led three CCC players in double figures with 15 points, while Jada Warner finished with 14 points. Quenshae Love added a dozen points.

The loss gives the Raiders a 3-7 mark for the season.

Up next, CC will take on North Iowa Area Community College in second round play of the Iowa Central Classic on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 12 noon.
