Lady Storm Reigns Over Raiders

Southeast Community College outscored Central Community College, 31-14, in the third period to erase a halftime deficit and went on to post an 88-73 win. The Lady Storm went on two big runs in the third. The first run was a 10-3 jump out of the break, and later, a 16-6 run closed out the quarter.

The Raiders built the first-half lead by outscoring the Lady Storm, 21-12, in the second quarter. CCC head coach Mike Kroupa said his team couldn't keep up to start the second half.

"We played a good second quarter, but played three bad ones, especially the third" said Kroupa. "Offensively, we missed some easy layups, but played very little defense. Hopefully, we can make the improvements we need to."

Payton Blanke paced the Raiders with a double-double comprised of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Teisha Snyder also scored 18 points, while Quenshae Love tallied 11 points.

On the other side, five SECC players scored in double figures, led by Jay'la Brown's 16 points. The Lady Storm also triumphed in the rebounding column, 55-39.

The loss is the second straight for the Raiders and give them a 10-13 mark on the season. Up next, CCC will travel to Iowa Western Community College for a Tuesday night contest. The Reivers are 18-8 on the year following an 87-79 victory over Kansas City Kansas Community College on Sunday.
