Hawks Fly Past Raiders

A solid rebounding performance enabled Northeast Community College to defeat Central Community College, 86-60, on Wednesday night in Norfolk. The Hawks outrebounded the Raiders, 55-45, which included 19 offensive rebounds for Northeast.

CCC struggled in the first half, scoring only six points in the second quarter and trailing at halftime, 45-19. In the second half, the Raiders kept pace with the Hawks, but could not overcome the first half deficit.

"It was a tale of two halves," said CCC head coach Mike Kroupa. "(In the first half), we did not rebound well and had some bad turnovers that cost us. In the second half, we cleaned it up."

Teisha Snyder logged a double-double for the Raiders with a team-high 15 points and ten rebounds. Payton Blanke and Quenshae Love also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Hawks were led by Mykala Baylor's double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds. Iva Belosevic also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

The Raiders are now 10-12 with the loss and will next play on Saturday at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
