CCC Opens 2016-17 With Win Over York JV

The Raiders came to life in the second quarter as they outscored the Panthers, 34-12, en route to a 94-75 victory at Raider Fieldhouse. York was up 19-10 following the first quarter before CCC found the spark and remained in control.

"We started four freshman and I knew they were going to be nervous," said head coach Mike Kroupa. "However, I feel like our pressure defense wore them down in the second half."

Six CCC players scored in double figures with Autumn Jones and Quenshae Love leading the charge with 14 points apiece. Teisha Snyder and Megan Fiala chipped in with a dozen points apiece. On the other side, York featured four players in double figures, with Sadie Pittman scoring a team-high 18 points. Ke'Aundrea Hobson tallied 16 points.

The rebounding battle was won by the Raiders, 56-44, with 27 of those on the offensive side. Snyder and Payton Blanke each hauled in nine boards for the Raiders, while Pittman and Julissa Vargas were the top rebounders for the Panthers, both also recording nine rebounds.

"Our scoring was pretty evenly balanced throughout the contest," said Kroupa. "I'm happy with the effort and we look to continue to improve."

CCC will be back in action on Thursday night against Concordia JV. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in Raider Fieldhouse.
