COLUMBUS -- The Raiders ended a three-game losing skid, running through the Warriors Saturday.

The Central Community College women's basketball team defeated Little Priest Tribal College 100-67 at the Raider Fieldhouse.

"We needed to get a win," Central head coach Mike Kroupa said. "We needed to get back on the winning record and hopefully (today against the Doane JV) we can carry that over."

Central took advantage of Little Priest's six-player roster throughout the first half, pushing tempo and pressing full court.

Eventually, the Warriors wore down.

The Raiders put together a 17-2 run over the course of a five-minute period to take a 30-point lead.

"We tried to get up and down," Kroupa said. "We pressed at the beginning."

Most of Central's points during that stretch came in transition, including four possessions from steals.

"Defensively, I wish they wouldn't have scored as much, but I think that's just one of those ugly games that they hit some 3's," Kroupa said. "It was just kind of an ugly game."

Closing out the first half, the Raiders found Makayla Augustine underneath in five of their final six possessions of the half for 10 points.

Augustine finished with 20 points in the game.

"Makayla had a lot of points down low," Kroupa said."She's really came on the last two, three weeks."

By halftime, Central built a 59-30 lead.

With a sizable cushion, Central began to slow the pace in the second half, setting up more of an offense.

"The second half, we really tried to slow things down and work on some plays," Kroupa said. "Against a zone you can't run that many plays, but we were able to do a few things differently. We didn't push it as much in the second half."

Little Priest cut within 25 points early in the second half, but didn't get closer.

Montrese Weller led the Raiders with 23 points. Lana'e Washington-Carson added 19 points and Kelsey Flaherty chipped in 13 points.

"We were pretty balanced for the most part. Offensively, there were times we made mistakes I wish we didn't, but I'm obviously pretty pleased for the day."

Kathleen Webster led all scorers in the game with 26 points for the Warriors.

Central improves to 13-11 and travels to the Doane JV today.
