COLUMBUS -- For the second game in a row, the Raiders tallied more than 100 points.

The Central Community College women's basketball team defeated Little Priest Tribal College 112-70 Wednesday at the Raider Fieldhouse.

"Every win is a good win," Central head coach Mike Kroupa said. "It was nice to see a lot of girls get playing time, balanced scoring, and after (Tuesday's) track meet, it was nice to improve our depth."

Throughout the first half, the Raiders were able to put a series of runs together for a big lead by halftime.

Central recorded runs of 15-0, 13-4, 11-0 and 11-0 again in the first half.

"We were able to hit some shots," Kroupa said. "At the beginning of the game, we pressed and forced some turnovers. They hit some threes though. We have to do a better job of covering shooters no matter the situation."

That success in the first half translated to a 57-25 first-half lead for the Raiders.

"In the first half, we came out and took care of business right away," Kroupa said. "We got a little lackadaisical at times, but that happens."

Both teams traded baskets in the beginning of the second half before Central eventually began to separate itself even more.

"We came out a little slow, but we kept the lead and extended the lead as the (second) half went on," Kroupa said.

Every player on Central's roster scored, and the Raiders had seven players score 10 points or more.

Montrese Weller led the Raiders with 16 points, Shananthia Bryant scored 15 points, Adrianna Beck added 14 points, Paige Muhammad tallied 13 points, and Kelsey Flaherty, LaShonda Brewer and Makayla Augustine each had 10 points.

"They played a 2-3 (zone), so they allowed us to shoot a lot from the outside," Kroupa said. "I wish we would have shot a little better, but when we did get it inside, LaShonda did a nice job, Makayla had a nice game and Shananthia had a nice game. So we were able to score down low when we needed to."

The Raiders turned the ball over 20 times in the win.

"The game just had a really odd rhythm to it and that caused a few turnovers," Kroupa said. "We can't have that many turnovers -- it doesn't matter who we play."

Central travels to take on Southeast Community College Jan. 28.
