The Raiders opened the best-of-three Region IX Tournament with a 6-5 victory over North Plate Community College.
It was a back-and-forth contest as there were five lead changes before CCC's Taylor Griffith scored the winning run in the eighth inning.
The Raiders took a 1-0 into the third inning when the Knights scored a pair of runs to go up 2-1. CCC matched those runs in the bottom of the third to go up 3-2. Following a scoreless fourth inning, the Raiders scored a run in the fifth inning to make it a 4-2 advantage.
NPCC logged three runs in the top of the sixth inning to regain the lead, 5-4. CCC tied the game, 5-5, with a run in the seventh inning. The Raiders then claimed victory on Griffith's run.
Ashten Gibson picked up the win for the Raiders.
