Southeast Community College claimed the Region IX Softball tournament championship with a 4-1 victory over Central Community College. With the victory, the Lady Storm advance to the District G tournament on May 7-8, and will face the winner of Region 11b.

The game was tied at one apiece after CCC and Southeast swapped runs in the first inning. The Lady Storm then scored three runs in the second inning and then clamped down on defense for the final five innings to win their first Region IX championship. 

The Raiders finish the 2016 campaign with mark of 15-31, while Southeast CC moves on with a record of 25-23-1.
