Men’s Soccer: CCC Hangs Tough With LCCC

The Central Community College men's soccer team lost to Laramie County Community College, 2-0, in the opening round of the Region IX tournament on Saturday.

Sophomore Cameron Broadhurst scored both goals for the Golden Eagles, one in the 12th minute and the other in the 39th minute. LCCC freshman Omar Castruita assisted on both goals, the first one from the corner.

CCC goalie Joao Victor faced 13 shots-on-goal and totaled 11 saves. Overall, LCCC outshot CCC, 21-6.

"The guys did a great job executing the game plan and put up a great fight against a really solid team, we just came up a bit short in the end," said CCC head coach Hawken Hanna. "Good luck to Laramie County throughout the region playoffs."

The Raiders closed out the season with a mark of 9-9-1.

"We had some ups and downs this season which can be expected with a group as young as ours, but our leaders did a really good job getting all of the new players to buy in to our culture," said Hanna. "Overall, I am really happy with the way we improved throughout the season and am ready to take that momentum into the off season. In the end, we were ready to compete with anyone, which is all you can ask for."
