Men’s Soccer: CCC Falls 3-1 at Northeastern JC

The Central Community College men's soccer team lost 3-1 at Northeastern Junior College on Friday.

CCC's score came in the 20th minute of the contest when Luis Tovar found the back of the net off the assist of Jeremiah Vidale. That made the score 1-1 as NJC scored its first goal in the sixth minute.

The scoring remained quiet until the 68th minute when Northeastern's Quentin Hornung scored a goal to make it 2-1. The Plainsmen got an insurance goal in the 85th minute off the foot of Jason McCormick for the 3-1 final.

CCC goalie Joao Victor had a busy afternoon, making 10 saves off 13 shots-on-goal. On the other end, Northeastern netminders Maarten Ritsema and Pelayo Quevedo teamed up for a pair of saves off three shots-on-goal.

"We played a close game against a really tough team," said CCC head coach Hawken Hanna. "I was happy to see us going into the second half tied 1-1, but we struggled to create much offense."

The loss gives CCC a 6-3-1 season mark.
