Soccer: Raiders Win Over Warriors

The Central Community College Soccer team snapped a two-game slide with a 6-2 victory over Midland JV in Fremont on Thursday. The win gives the Raiders a 3-9 record on the 2016 season.

CCC sophomore Trevor Hansen commenced the scoring with a free kick to make the score 1-0. The Raiders eventually led 4-1 at halftime with goals scored by sophomore Jose Orellana, freshman Gilberto Evangelista and Mario Sandoval, who also scored on a free kick. For Orellana, it was his third goal scored in the last three games.

The Raiders tacked on a pair of goals in the second half, the first scored by sophomore Juan Alvarado and the second by freshman Jose Flores.

"Our defense did an excellent job, especially Jhareese Walker and Juan Lopez," said CCC head coach Dave Silva. "We used our passing and speed to control the tempo of the game."

Up next, the Raiders travel to Sterling, Colorado, on Saturday, October 1, to take on Northeastern Junior College in a Region IX contest. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
