Soccer: Raiders Take on Two Top 20 Teams

The Central Community College Soccer team hosted Otero College and Trinidad State on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Both teams are ranked in the top 20. A recap of both game are below. The Raiders will be back in action on Thursday with a non-conference venture against Midland JV in Fremont. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

Otero JC 3 CCC 1

The Raiders struck first in the divisional matchup with the Rattlers with an unassisted goal off the foot of Jose Orellana ten minutes into the first half. Some ten minutes later, Otero's Gimale Essacu scored a goal with an assist from Scott McGuane to tie the game at one apiece. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the half at the score read 1-1 at halftime.

Essacu scored his second goal of the game in the 62nd minute, giving the Rattlers a 2-1 lead. Jonathan Cuevas provided the assist. Aldo Palacios, with an assist from Kaleb Schultz, added an insurance goal for Otero, for the 3-1 win.

Trinidad State JC 8 CCC 4

The Raiders spotted the Trojans five goals before they got on the board in the 35th minute. Filip Milivojevic and Luis Cazares scored the first two goals with the assists provided by Eduardo Solis and Biska Biyombo, respectively. Biyombo scored the next two goals for Trinidad for a 4-0 lead. Jeremy Elmore-Klepac and Segio Martinez assisted on the goals. Filip Cvetinovic found the back of the net with an assist from Roch Alico to make the score 5-0, Trinidad. Moments later, CCC scored its first goal for a 5-1 deficit at halftime.

The Trojans scored the first two goals of the second half – and unassisted goal from Milivojevic followed by Cvetinovic scoring his second goal of the afternoon with an assist from Victor Lujan – to make the score 7-1. CCC's Trevor Hansen then scored an unassisted goal, making the score 7-2. Milivojevic scored the hat trick with his third goal of the game, which also capped the scoring for the Trojans, 8-2. The Raiders scored the game's final two points with unassisted goals from Jose Orellana and Miguel Andrade, for the 8-4 Trinidad victory.

Central Community College is the only team in 2016 that has scored more than two goals against Trinidad State JC.
