Golf: Raiders Open the Spring Season

The Central Community College golf team opened the spring 2019 season by participating in two events. Here is a recap of both events:

Blue River Classic – April 2 and 3

The two-day Blue River Classic, hosted by Doane University, was held on Tuesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 3, at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club and Highlands Golf Course, respectively. Both courses are located in Lincoln.

Carter Luedtke led the Raiders with a combined score of 176, followed by Ryder Lewis with a 186. Keaton Sekutera and Evan Halbmaier each carded a 227.

Midland Invitational – April 6

River Winds Golf Club in Blair was the site of the Midland University Invitational.

Luedtke again topped CCC with an 82, followed by Ethan Paben with an 86. Lewis finished at 88, while Sekutera posted a 110.

"The team is young and inexperienced but trying hard," said CCC head coach Britt Blackwell following both events. "With more practice and competitions, our team scores should show considerable improvement."

CCC will open the home portion of its spring season Thursday with a triangular against Doane JV and Nebraska Wesleyan. Tee time is set for 1 p.m. at Elks Country Club in Columbus.
