John Ritzdorf is in his fifth year as CCC men’s basketball coach. In 2022-23, he led the Raiders to their first NJCAA Division II National Tournament in nine years, winning region and district titles along the way.

Under Ritzdorf's leadership, CCC has won more games and has the highest winning percentage of any two-year college program in Nebraska. He has been named Region 9 Coach of the Year three times, Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference (NCCAC) Coach of the Year twice and North District Coach of the Year once. Ritzdorf has recruited and coached three players who earned All-American honors. In 2020, he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Under Armour 30 under 30 team.

Ritzdorf made an immediate impact during his first season as he led the Raiders to Region 9 and NCCAC championships, CCC's first NCCAC title in 25 years. The team posted a 20-11 record, which included a mark of 6-2 against NJCAA Division I opponents. He came to CCC from the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UNK) where he served as an assistant men’s basketball coach for three seasons. In his first year, the Lopers went 20-10 and four UNK players were named All-MIAA.

Prior to UNK, Ritzdorf worked for two years as director of basketball operations at the Univerity of Nebraska-Omaha under coach Derrin Hansen. He spent one year as a graduate assistant at Northern State (S.D.) University under coach Paul Sather. Ritzdorf got his coaching start in Omaha, serving both as an assistant coach at Ralston High School for coach Bill Heard, and a head coach, manager and camp director at the Omaha Sports Academy.

A native of York, Ritzdorf is married to the former Dana Grenfell. They reside in Columbus with their sons, Alec and Bennett.
