Men’s Basketball: Raiders Rollover Mavericks

The Central Community College men's basketball team defeated Northwest Kansas Technical College JV, 85-61, in opening round action of the Pinnacle Bank Classic at Raider Fieldhouse.

CCC got off to slow start, but picked up steam with a 15-0 run in the first half en route to a 47-29 halftime lead. The Raiders continued the momentum in the second half they led by as many as 36 points. Defensively, CCC outrebounded Northwest Technical, 72-38.

Despite the offensive and defensive output, CCC head coach John Ritzdorf said his team did not play great.

"We didn't start off the game with the way we needed to with our energy and our focus," said Ritzdorf. "We did a great job of getting out in transition, eventually, and I think that had a lot to do with us picking up our intensity on the defensive end of the floor."

Tre'vion Crawford led the Raiders in scoring with 31 points, while Nathan Frost finished with 20 points. Roman Behrens dished out 15 assists.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 4-2 on the season.

Up next, CCC will close out the Pinnacle Bank Classic with a 1 p.m. game on Saturday against Southwestern (Iowa) Community College.
