Men’s Basketball: CCCC Overtakes CCC

The Central Community College men's basketball team lost at Cloud County (Kan.) Community College, 86-68, on Monday night.

The Raiders kept pace with the T-Birds throughout much of the first half, leading by five points on two occasions. Cloud County then took the lead for good with just under three minutes to play in the first half. CCCC led 38-34 at the half.

The T-Birds took off in the second half with a 21-10 run over a six-minute span and eventually built a 20-point lead. The Raiders could not recover as they picked up their second straight loss.

"The game was close in the first half, but poor shot selection in the second half led to too many fast-break points for Cloud County," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf.

Tre Mikkelsen led the Raiders in scoring with 21 points, while Nathan Frost recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebouds.

The loss gives CCC a 3-2 season mark.

Up next, the Raiders will host the Pinnacle Bank Classic at Raider Fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday. CCC will take on Northwest Kansas Technical College JV on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Raiders will then close out the tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a contest against Southwestern (Iowa) Community College.
