Men’s Basketball: Raiders Hold Off Bobcats

The Central Community College men's basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 97-83 home win over Peru State JV on Tuesday night.

The Raiders took control early and led 49-26 at halftime. CCC built a 67-30 lead early in the second half before the Bobcats found an offensive spark. Despite being outscored 57-48 in the second half, the Raiders were able to hold on for the 14-point victory.

Five Raiders scored in double figures, led by Roman Behrens with 20 points. The Snow College transfer also dished out six assists.

"Roman did a tremendous job of controlling the tempo of the game in the first half," said CCC head Coach John Ritzdorf. "He scored it well, found open guys and came up with three steals on the defensive end. As a team, I thought we did a good job of running in transition and sharing the basketball."

Dwight Glover scored 14 points off the bench, while Tre Mikkelsen finished with 13 points. Tre'vion Crawford and Nathan Frost each scored 10 points.

Up next, CCC will take part in the Northeast Tournament in Norfolk.

On Friday, the Raiders will battle Iowa Central Community College at 4 p.m. On Saturday, CCC meets Iowa Lakes Community College at 2 p.m.
