Men’s Basketball: Frost Ices CCC Victory

Nathan Frost scored a bucket with nine seconds remaining as the Raiders held on for a 66-65 win at McCook Community College on Wednesday night.

The win capped off an exciting comeback by the Raiders after they fell behind by 17 points in the first half. CCC clamped down on defense in the second half and held the Indians to 25 points. The Raiders took their first lead with three minutes to play and kept close for the remainder of regulation, allowing Frost to score the winning shot.

"With all the adversity we faced in the first half, we still found a way to overcome," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "We started to focus on small details like closing with hands up, rebounding and slowly fighting our way back into the game. When we pay attention to details, we are a dangerous team."

Damien Marquez led four CCC players in double figures with 19 points. Tre'vion Crawford added 17 points, while Frost and Latrell Talley each scored 10 points.

With the win, the Raiders finish the 2018-19 regular season with a mark of 10-16.

Up next, CCC will face Southeast Community College in the Region IX tournament championship on Saturday in Beatrice. The Storm swept the Raiders during the regular season. CCC lost 85-65 to SCC on Feb. 2, followed by a 94-87 overtime loss on Monday night at Raider Fieldhouse. Saturday's game is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
