Men’s Basketball: Northeast Holds Off CCC

The Central Community College men's basketball team lost to Northeast Community College, 81-73, at Raider Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

The Raiders led 33-28 at halftime before the Hawks outscored CCC in the second half, 53-40, for the eight-point win. The Raiders won the rebounding battle, 44-34, but Northeast's 44 percent field goal shooting was just ahead of CCC's 39 percent.

Four Raiders finished in double figures with Latrell Talley leading the way with 14 points. Tre'vion Crawford totaled 13 points, while Delrico Simms (pictured) logged 11 points. Hakeem Odunsi rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points. Nathan Frost hauled in a dozen rebounds.

"We did a nice job in the first half defensively, but we lost our technique and focus which made for a poor second half," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon.

The loss gives CCC a 5-12 mark.

"Our mistakes are correctable and we will work on getting better," said Drymon. "We have one month to maximize our abilities and we are going to push hard to do it."

The Raiders will take part in this weekend's SCC Prep Classic in Beatrice. On Saturday, CCC will take on Next Level Prep at 3 p.m. On Sunday, CCC will battle Link Year Prep at noon.
