Men’s Basketball: Raiders Outlast Tigers

A missed free throw with one second remaining allowed Central Community College to hold on for a 62-60 win over Doane JV at Raider Fieldhouse on Monday night.

The Raiders struggled in the first half. Multiple turnovers and poor shooting resulted in a 33-25 lead for the Tigers at halftime.

In the second half, CCC played hard and eventually took the lead. With one second to play, the Raiders were up by the 62-60 count when Doane was fouled, sending the Tigers to the free throw line for a one-and-one. The Tigers missed the front end and time expired, giving the Raiders the two-point win.

Three CCC players scored in double figures with Tre'vion Crawford leading the way with 15 points. Cooper Pratt and Latrell Talley each scored 11 points. Talley hauled in 14 rebounds, giving him a double double.

"We picked up our defense in the second half and held them to 27 points," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "This helped us climb back in the game after turning the ball over 20 times and shooting poorly in the first half. We have been able to get a little momentum as we head into the weekend."

With the win, the Raiders are 3-8.

Up next, CCC will take part in the SCC Holiday Classic in Beatrice on Friday and Saturday. At 4 p.m. on Friday, the Raiders will meet the Scotties of Highland Community College. On Saturday at noon, CCC will have a rematch with Doane JV.
