Men’s Basketball: CCC Triumphs Over Fort Scott

Latrell Talley's double-double helped lift the Central Community College men's basketball team past Fort Scott Community College, 81-72, in second-round action of the Holiday Classic in Beatrice. Talley scored 17 points and hauled in 13 rebounds, both team highs.

The Greyhounds built a 32-19 advantage in the first half before the Raiders outscored Fort Scott, 22-12, to pull to within three at the half, 44-41. CCC took the lead in the second half by holding the Greyhounds scoreless in the first nine minutes and never looked back. CCC won the rebounding battle, 35-24, and forced 19 Fort Scott turnovers.

Four other Raiders scored in double figures with Zack Rice-Gordon scoring 16 points and Jaxon Simons scoring 15 points. Malik Mooving finished with 14 points, while Garrett Sittner logged 10 points.

"It's always nice to head into break with a victory," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "It gives us something to build upon when we return after Christmas."

With the win, CCC is now 7-8 on the season.

The Raiders are off until January 11 when they will host Doane JV at Raider Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. CCC's last home game was on Nov. 18.

"Hopefully we can get everyone healthy and back to full strength for the spring stretch run," said Drymon.
