SECC Defeats CCC

Southeast Community College made it eights wins in a row with a 92-80 win over Central Community College on Saturday in Beatrice. The loss is the second straight for the Raiders, giving them a mark of 15-11, while SECC improves to 17-9.

The Raiders got off to a hot start and took a 39-36 advantage to the locker room at halftime. However, the Storm took command with a 20-6 run in the second half and CCC was unable to catch up.

"We had too many defensive lapses and a lack of focus on our responsibilities hurt us in the second half," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "We have to take more pride in guarding and take some big strides defensively over the next two weeks to close out the season."

CCC's Marco Fabietti scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Raiders in scoring, while Logan Fleming totaled 19 points. Ruben Fuamba logged a double-double with 17 points and 19 rebounds. As a team, CCC outrebounded SECC, 43-38.

Six Storm players scored in double figures led by Richie Roger, who came off the bench to score a team-high 15 points. Mitch Brown had a good day dishing out the ball as he finished with 10 assists.

CCC will be back in action on Wednesday night with a road venture to Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. The Spartans are 23-1 following a 78-75 road loss at Kirkwood Community College on Saturday. Tip-off between the Raiders and the Spartans is set for 7:30 p.m.
