CCC Defeats 12th Ranked Highland

Sophomore Luke Cadzow hit a three-point basket with 50 seconds remaining and sophomore Logan Fleming connected on one-of-two free throws with 11 seconds to go to lift the Raiders to a 78-75 win over 12th rated Highland Community College in first round action of the SECC Holiday Classic.

CCC picked up the win despite committing 27 turnovers and surrendering 20 offensive rebounds. The Scotties put themselves in a good position for the win with 12 three-point baskets and shooting 54 percent (23-43) from the floor.

"Anytime you can beat the #12 team in the country it is a good win," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "We faced some adversity with the amount of turnovers and offensive rebounds we gave up, but we kept fighting. We found a way to get a win with not playing our best game."

Three CCC players scored in double figures, two of which came off the bench. Reserves Deon Tabb and Tristan Hoover led the charge with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Cadzow rounded out the double-digit scorers with 15 points.

Highland also featured three players in double digits. Stephon Jackson led the pack with 19, while Dontre English and Jaquan Daniels finished with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

"I think this shows the potential that this team has," said Drymon. "If we can continue to improve in a few areas I think we can have a nice second half of the season."

With the win, the Raiders are now 10-4 on the season.
