CCC Suffers First Loss of the Season

Six Iowa Western Community College players scored in double figures as the Reivers handed the Raiders their first loss of the season, 106-77. The Reivers also clamped down defensively at Raider Fieldhouse, and forcing 26 turnovers.

"We played a very good team tonight," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "I thought we executed well at times, but weren't consistent enough to get the victory. Ruben Fuamba played an excellent game en route to a double-double again. I know we learned some things that we need to improve upon and will start working on those things at practice."

Four CCC players scored in double figures, led by Fuamba's team-high 17 points to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds. Logan Fleming and Jerome Dixon each scored 14 points, while Marco Fabietti rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points. The Raiders shot 47 percent from the floor (29-62), 41 percent from three-point range (7-17) and 60 percent from the free throw line (12-20).

Jeremiah Jefferson led the Reivers in scoring with 19 points, followed by Alex Peacock, who scored 17 points. Donovan Walker and De'Quon Lake each added a dozen points, while reserves Marquel Beasley and Pat Dembley both chipped in 11 points. Iowa Western shot 52 percent from the floor (44-85), 38 percent from three-point range (9-24) and 69 percent at the free throw line (9-13).

The Raiders are now 6-1 on the season and will host the Pinnacle Classic at Raider Fieldhouse this Friday and Saturday. CCC will battle Dakota County Technical College on Friday at 7 p.m. The Raiders will then meet Southwestern Community College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
