BEATRICE -- The Raiders had a shot to win in overtime, but couldn't get it done.

Instead, the Central Community College men's basketball team lost to Southeast Community College 92-85 in double overtime Wednesday in Beatrice.

"In the first overtime, I thought we had a good opportunity to win," Central head coach Jerry Drymon said. "But we just had a mental lapse with a technical foul."

Down the stretch, Southeast outscored Central 16-9 in the second overtime to hold on for the victory.

Central, on its fourth of seven consecutive road games, couldn't maintain its level of play in the final minutes.

"We just ran out of gas in the second overtime," Drymon said. "We play seven straight on the road -- that's not a great schedule to win games. Even us coaches get tired. We just ran out of bodies there toward the end, too."

Three Raiders fouled out in the game.

The Raiders opportunity to win in overtime nearly wiped away a struggle out of the gate.

In the first 12 minutes of the game, Central only scored nine points.

"I thought, offensively, we struggled to start the game," Drymon said. "Defensively, we played pretty well to keep us in the game."

Central's defense kept the Raiders within a bucket -- down 28-26 at halftime.

"We had to feel pretty good with where we were at that point," Drymon said.

The Raider offense began to find life in the second half, though, finding big shots from Shawn Robinson and Connor Long, Drymon noted.

Central put together a 37-point second half to tie the game at the end of regulation.

"I thought we had a little bit better ball movement," Drymon said. "We talked about getting the ball around the free throw line and we did a better job getting the ball in there. We did a better job of breaking the press and getting to the rim."

Robinson's 18 points led Central's offense, which consisted of five double-digit scorers.

Thomas Johnson had 15 points, David Joachim had 13 points, Long had 12 points and Matthew McLeod had 11 points.

Snyder Cenecharles for Southeast had a game-high 28 points.

"He hit five 3s tonight, but that was unusual for him," Drymon said. "He hit some big 3s, which gave them momentum and killed our momentum. He put his team on his back through most of the overtimes."

Central travels to North Platte Community College Friday.
