CCC Center Earns All-America Honors

Central Community College men's basketball center Ruben Fuamba has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America Third Team.

Fuamba averaged a double-double for the 2016-17 season with 12.7 points and a team-high 10.7 rebounds per game. He led the Raiders in field goal shooting with 60.1 percent (140-233) and 44 blocks. Fuamba led CCC in rebounding in 20 games and scoring in five games.

"Ruben had a great season this year and it is great to see his hard work and improvement over the last two years being rewarded by being named as an All-American," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "I am really proud of Ruben's efforts on the court as well as his actions off the court. He has been a pleasure to coach."

The Raiders finished the season with an 18-14 record and won the Region IX championship over Southeast Community College. CCC advanced to the District VII title game but lost to Dakota County Technical College (MN), 68-65.
